Zany Ziplines & Wicked Water Parks of Dells, Wisconsin

Dells, Wisconsin might not appear in the major travel guides, but it’s the best-kept outdoor recreation secret in the region. It surrounds Lake Delton, giving you access to stellar fishing spots, jet ski and ski boat areas, as well as so many water parks, you could go to a different one every day of the week. If you need some help with vacation planning and aren’t sure what Wisconsin Dells vacation packages would give you the best value for your money, here are some outdoor recreation ideas you can enjoy either solo, as a couple, or with the whole family.

Lake Delton has a variety of opportunities for fishing adventures. It’s open every day until 7 p.m. in the busy season, and 5 p.m. in the off-season. If you want to look at fish more than catch them, there’s also an 80,000-gallon aquarium there. It’s surrounded by a beautiful park and has a horseback riding stable on site, as the Beaver Spring Fun’s website mentions.

Water Parks

Dells is home to 20 water parks and counting, making it the water park capital of the Midwest. According to its website, Mt. Olympus Park is one of the most impressive parks, as it’s essentially four parks in one. There’s an indoor water park, an outdoor water park, a theme park, and a huge resort and hotel that has 1,000 rooms. If you’re looking for an all-inclusive water park option, this is your best bet.

Many hotels in the area offer included admissions or steep discounts to the water parks when you book rooms, so take a look at the specials when you’re making your hotel selection. When you’re traveling with family, it can be hard to keep younger children entertained. As we covered here in a previous post, SwimWays floating toys offer more outdoor pool entertainment to keep the children happy.

Zipline Tours

Zipline tours are great adventures when you’re traveling alone, with a significant other, or with friends and older children. Bigfoot Zipline Tours is open throughout the year, giving you access to the most beautiful views and adrenaline-producing zipline courses. The ziplines range from 10-100 feet off the ground, depending on how daring you’re feeling. The grounds are set over marvelous forests that give you a literal bird’s eye view of the flora and fauna native to the area.

Cave of the Mounds

If you’re looking to have more of an underground adventure than an outdoor one, Cave of the Mounds has an extensive cave system for amateur spelunkers to explore. This cave has been open to the public for approximately 75 years, and the attraction is open year-round. The cave’s tour lasts 30 minutes and takes you around a stellar cave system that would make any geology nerd or rock hound happy. The cave also offers gemstone mining and fossil digs. With butterfly gardens and rolling hills that show you the natural beauty of Dells, you might get distracted from the casino and water parks in the area.
