Super Cute Girls Pillowcase Dress and Mens Shirt Dress DIY Tutorials

Pillow Case Dress Pattern and Tutorial

Today I was looking for some ideas for Pinky’s first birthday dress. I really want to make one for her and I found these 2 tutorials that include patterns! The first is the pillowcase dress, so simple and so adorable! LBG Studio has graciously posted her sewing patterns and this dress can easily be shortened or lengthened. You can get the full pillow case dress tutorial and pattern here.

Now for the second dress tutorial I found, The Shirt Dress. Have a bunch of old men’s dress shirts?  Upcycle them! What a great way to reuse a Mens Dress shirt and turn it into a precious dress. It’s modern, fun and so chic! Dana Made It put together a very simple tutorial and in 2-3 hours you can make this dress yourself! View the full shirt dress tutorial here.

I think I’m going to make the pillow case dress for Pinky’s birthday! I’m very excited to choose the fabric pattern and get started. Her birthday is less than 4 months away now  (WOW, I can’t believe how fast time is going) and with the rate I go with craft projects I better get started! 🙂

  1. these are so cute! I hope we have a girl someday so I can try this out!!! I’m a new follower. Hope you can stop by and say hi @ I have a blog on Mondays called “Memory Mondays” that I’d love it if you would link up to sometime!
Hope you are having a great hump day!

  2. I saw the men’s shirt dress tutorial another time and think it’s sooooo sweet! Those pillowcase dresses are adorable also. What about a pettiskirt? I’ve seen a few tutorial’s on those also. I think that’s what I’m going to do for Kate’s first birthday since we are doing a french theme. I think I’ll put a pink poodle on her shirt.

    1. I LOVE pettiskirts too! I love the idea of a poodle, that would be adorable! You could carry that on through a theme for her birthday!

  3. Oh the joys of dressing up a girl…and being a crafty Mom! hehehe….I have yet to get my hands on a sewing machine and try out a few simple projects!

Anyway, thanks for the ideas, and for stopping by at Catharsis earlier. You’re right. GFC seems to be up and running now so I guess I’ll be hosting a blog hop tomorrow. I hope you can stop by again and link up! See you :-))

  4. I love those pillowcase dresses!!!! SO CUTE!!! I made the shirt dress for my daughter a few years ago… but I was just learning to sew… she wouldn’t wear it! lol! I needed to practice some more… but I haven’t had time since! So many shirts waiting and not enough time!!!

  5. I wish I had kids already so i could make this!!! Also, I wish I were talented enough to make this. My mom was a seamstress and designer – I think that talent passed over me. 🙁

Thanks for stopping by! I’m your newest follower!
