One of my fears as a parent is not having some sort of college savings for my girls when the time comes. So, when I was asked to review Instagrad it really hit home for me. Instagrad enables families to start your children’s college savings by allowing loved ones or maybe even strangers to donate to your children’s education fund.
Signing-up is free and you can create a profile for your children post some information and even a picture.
Then, you can share your page on social networks and email it to friends and family so that they can donate. I love the idea of a college savings account that makes it easy for everyone to donate and I’m starting both girls a profile page so that our friends and family can choose to donate if they wish instead of buying a toy for birthdays or Christmas.
It’s also great for those who have family or friends that live out-of-state making it easier for them to donate.
Once the money has been donated you can input your educational saving funds (529) info where you would like the money to be transferred to. If you don’t have a 529 plan yet they have some great plan suggestions for you that you can signup for.
Let’s face it college tuition isn’t going to get any cheaper, in fact, its forecasted to double in the next 10 years so I can only imagine what it will be in 15 and 17 years when it comes time for Pinky and Loo Loo to start college. So, we plan to start saving now and investing in a 529 plan for each of our children so that they can get the best education possible and help them achieve their goals.
