The kitchen was the first room in our home that we painted. After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home, right? The color we chose for our kitchen was a dark sage, greenish color and it was pretty but after a couple of years I found it dull, blah, boring!
Here is our old kitchen color –
I was ready to make a drastic paint color change and make our kitchen a bright, lively place to be. Especially since we just redesigned our family room into a more fun, family zone, I wanted the kitchen to emulate this same fun feeling.
I have always loved Sherwin-Williams paints, we’ve literally used them in every room in our home and there are many good reasons for that.
Sherwin-Williams paints go on so smoothly. We’ve tried pretty much all of the other paint brands but there was just no comparison to how the paint goes on the walls. It’s smooth and forgiving not leaving any paint lines on the walls even when you have to go over one spot on a large wall. Sherwin-Williams recently came out with their new formulated Harmony paint and asked me to review it making it the perfect opportunity to re-paint our kitchen.
A little about Sherwin-Williams new Harmony paint:
Harmony® Interior Acrylic Latex paint is a zero VOC formula that helps reduce common indoor odors from your pets, cooking and smoke to help rooms stay fresher, longer. Harmony contains new technology that helps promote better indoor air quality by reducing VOC levels from potential sources like carpet, cabinets and fabrics. It also gives your walls a washable, durable finish.
Did you get that? It can reduce common odors from pets, cooking and smoke. How nice is that?! I had to use it in our kitchen!
After working with my designer we chose a paint color to accent the Sherwin-Williams Drizzle in our family room and went with e used the Sherwin-Williams Emerald paint in Rainwashed (SW 6211) with Sherwin-Williams Rain (SW 6219).
Now, this project has been a long time coming but it’s finally complete and I’m ready to share with you our finished kitchen painted with Sherwin-Williams Rain. It’s a beautiful grey-blue color.
Here it is, our new kitchen –
Isn’t it SO much better? I love how bright, airy and fun yet sophisticated it is. Our dark cabinets and furniture really pop against this grey-ish blue color.
I also replaced our old dark light over the dining table with a brushed nickel one and repainted the cornice over our sliding glass door to white to help lighten the room and match it better.
I do notice that even after cooking garlic our home doesn’t hold on to those smells like it used to which is a definite bonus to using the Harmony paint.
It also cleans up beautifully. Loo Loo is always touching the walls with her food covered hands and it washes off easily and doesn’t leave any staining. Even red tomato sauce comes off without a trace.
Something else I love about Sherwin-Williams paints is that they don’t have a strong odor to them. Having two small children I don’t want them to be around strong chemical odors but this paint has zero VOC and we were able to do this project with the girls home.
If you’re going to be or are thinking about painting in your home, I highly recommend Sherwin-Williams paints. I had a great experience with the Harmony paint in our kitchen.
