I got to try out a Kia for a week to facilitate my post!
My husband and I went on a little road trip recently in a new 2013 Kia Optima EX. This was my first experience ever having been in a Kia or driving one and I have to say that I’m quite impressed. When they pulled the Kia Optima in the driveway I was instantly surprised by how sleek and cool it looks. In the week we had it, the Kia Optima proved to be not only stylish but offers a comfortable ride as well not to mention the price is very affordable – it starts at $21,350.
Exterior
Like I said, I love the sleek sporty exterior. It has clean lines and doesn’t look like any other sedan on the road. I really love the extra touches they put on it like the daytime running LED lights – slick!
Interior
The interior is beautiful too. Not to mention it’s also roomy and the seats are very comfortable. The dashboard is simple, modern and easy to read. There are also plugs near the center console for USB devices, iPod and an auxiliary plug. The USB plug always comes in handy for charging your smart phone while you drive. The back is also roomy and though we didn’t install ours, there is plenty of room for a couple of car seats.
Driving & Handling
The Kia Optima handles very well, the steering is tight and responsive. It maneuvers with ease and getting into some tight parking spots was no problem at all. It’s also pretty fast and peppy!
Fuel Economy
The Kia Optima gets great gas mileage – 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway. We took it on a full tank from our home near Detroit to Cleveland and ran our normal weekly errands in it on one tank of gas!
Storage Space
The trunk is quite large for a sedan. There’s plenty of room for a average size stroller and some groceries.
I enjoyed our time in the Kia Optima EX and I will definitely give Kia a second look from now on. It is stylish, roomy, unique and drives very nicely. Plus, I LOVED getting that great gas mileage! Oh, and the price is real nice too! I would definitely recommend checking out the Kia Optima for yourself.

I’ve never driven a Kia, but they seem like nice cars.
I have always wanted to test drive a KIA.. That exterior is real beautiful.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the car. 🙂
Looks like a nice car – good gas mileage is a plus.
Nice car and good gas mileage. We bought a Kia Sorento a few years ago and by shopping around found out it was a lot less than other brands.
